MCT Technic continues to develop the next-generation MCT UAT – Remote Sensing Emission Measurement System, designed to measure vehicle emissions under real-world traffic conditions. The system under development aims to collect emission data without stopping vehicles, identify high-emission vehicles, and support data-driven emission management processes in cities.
Protecting urban air quality, reducing harmful vehicle emissions, and developing sustainable transportation solutions are among the key priorities in environmental technology today. Accurately measuring vehicle emissions, particularly in heavy traffic conditions, plays an important role in assessing their environmental impact.
Traditional emission inspections are generally conducted under specific testing and inspection conditions. However, the emissions produced by vehicles during everyday operation may vary depending on driving conditions. This highlights the growing need for next-generation measurement technologies capable of collecting data under real driving conditions.
At MCT Technic, we are developing the MCT UAT – Remote Sensing Emission Measurement System to address this need. By bringing together sensing technologies, AI-powered vehicle recognition, and digital data management, we aim to introduce an innovative approach to vehicle emission measurement.
Emission Measurement Without Interrupting Traffic Flow
The primary objective of the MCT UAT system currently under development is to enable vehicles to be analyzed without stopping them or disrupting normal traffic flow.
Based on remote sensing technology, the system is designed to measure vehicle emission performance under real driving conditions and convert the results into digital data.
As part of the project, we aim to measure CO, CO₂, HC, NO, NO₂, and NH₃ using open-path infrared (IR) absorption spectroscopy. We are also working on functions for AI-powered license plate recognition, high-emission vehicle identification, and the detection of potential manipulation of emission control systems.
The key capabilities we aim to develop within the MCT UAT project include:
- Measuring vehicle emissions without stopping vehicles or interrupting traffic flow.
- Collecting instantaneous emission data under real driving conditions.
- Identifying vehicles with elevated emission levels.
- AI-powered license plate recognition and data analysis.
- Digitally recording emission measurement results.
- Transferring data through encrypted cloud systems and API infrastructure.
The system is being developed with fixed and portable installation options to support operation under different road and field conditions. The project also includes the development of capabilities for monitoring additional environmental parameters, such as rainfall, particulate matter, pressure, temperature, and humidity.
Real-World Measurements Instead of Estimated Data
One of our primary objectives in developing the MCT UAT project is to support the use of directly measured field data in emission management.
A vehicle passing an emission inspection does not necessarily mean it will demonstrate the same emission performance under different traffic densities and driving conditions. Therefore, evaluating vehicles under real-world operating conditions is essential for gaining a more comprehensive understanding of traffic-related emissions.
With the system we are developing, we aim to establish a data infrastructure that will support the analysis of traffic-related emission profiles across specific roads, districts, and cities.
We expect this approach to support the identification of high-emission vehicles and help relevant authorities make use of more comprehensive data in their emission management processes.
Developing Technology for Next-Generation Emission Management
At MCT Technic, we see MCT UAT not simply as an emission measurement device, but as an integrated technology platform capable of contributing to the future of urban emission monitoring and management.
As part of our project, we continue to work on bringing together remote measurement systems, advanced sensing technologies, AI-powered vehicle recognition, and digital data management within a unified infrastructure.
Our fundamental approach throughout the development process is to create technologies that enable the collection of measurable, analyzable, and actionable emission data to support informed decision-making.
At MCT Technic, we remain committed to developing next-generation environmental technologies through our MCT UAT project, with the goal of contributing to cleaner air, more sustainable mobility, and data-driven urban management.
